The way this works is you get access to the website and then download an installer. When you fire that up, it asks for your username and password, then moves into the install process. Unfortunately, that was a very long process. I don't know the exact time, but it was at least 30 minutes - maybe longer. I don't think it was my internet connection either, as I have a 1Gb connection and tested it right before starting.

Once the game finally launched, there was another login page that required me to verify the game using a code emailed to me. After entering it, a "You're connected" message popped up and I was soon off to the races. The game immediately reminded me of Cyberpunk 2077 - that same dystopian, neon, futuristic vibe. However, issues started almost right away. The sound was stuck at 100%, completely masking the dialog, so I exited the game and restarted it, which seemed to fix that issue. Unfortunately, restarting meant another email verification, which required me to alt + tab - something that really seemed to mess with the game. Eventually, I got my code and moved on.

Visually, the graphics were disappointing. I can run other games in both 1080p and 4K without issues, so when I saw that the game's max resolution was capped at 1080p, I expected it to look and run smoothly. That wasn't the case. On the "Ultra" settings, some areas looked decent, but most of the environments were muddy and flat - you can see this in the screenshots. Dropping down to "High" settings helped somewhat: there was less tearing and the rain effects looked better, though they also became almost invisible. At that point, I left the settings alone and moved on to the gameplay itself.

You play as Axel, who starts off alone in his apartment - broke and depressed. That changes when you receive a direct call from Val (Katee V), and it quickly becomes clear you'll do anything she wants. After learning about a nearby money truck delivery from your AI assistant, Reyna, you head out to meet Xeno to get the necessary firepower to take the job on.

Once you're geared up, it's time to deal with a few bots and the security guards protecting the truck. Taking cover behind a car, you can aim down the sights to take your shots, but the aiming felt off. It seemed like they were going for some kind of recoil system, but it just didn't work well. After finally dropping all the guards, you run over to the truck - which immediately cuts to a chase scene with no user interaction at all. It plays entirely as a cutscene.

Somehow, the heavily armored truck is more nimble than the cops, and you duck down an alley to escape with the money. Surely this should be enough to satisfy Val, but instead, the first thing you do is buy her some lingerie. Unfortunately, there was only one option available. After purchasing it, you hand it off to a bouncer who lets you into the club, assuring you he'll pass the gift along to Katee.
